About Derek BraidDerek has been a photographic enthusiast since he first experienced the thrill of developing and printing pictures in his school darkroom in Edinburgh. Over many years, he perfected his hobby, and in addition to spending many hours in the darkroom processing black and white photographs, he took thousands of 35mm slides and contributed to a Picture Library in Edinburgh. More recently he grabbed the opportunity to turn his hobby into a full time occupation. In 2001 he began taking Panoramic Photographs and has built up a large selection of views of Scotland and other parts of the UK.
Derek lives in the small coastal town of North Berwick, East Lothian with his wife Ann and his Cocker Spaniel ‘Sparky’. Both locally in East Lothian and during photographic trips in Scotland and the rest of the UK, the Panoramic format provides great opportunities for landscapes and seascapes. Derek loves dark skies, especially when the sun is on the subject at ground level.
